Step-by-step guide for uploading your Fall Protection Plan to Procore's Safety Documents module for GC review and approval.
Most General Contractors on commercial projects use Procore to manage safety documentation. When your GC requires a Fall Protection Plan as part of pre-mobilization, you'll need to upload it to the correct location in Procore so the GC safety director can review and approve it before your crew can access the site.
Log in to Procore and navigate to your project. If you don't have access, ask your GC project manager to add you as a subcontractor collaborator.
Go to the Safety module (or Documents module, depending on the GC's setup). Look for a folder called 'Safety Plans', 'Pre-Mobilization', or 'Subcontractor Submittals'.
Click 'Upload' or 'Add File' and select your Fall Protection Plan PDF. Most GCs prefer PDF format — do not upload Word documents.
In the file details, set the category to 'Safety' and tag it as 'Fall Protection Plan'. Add a description that includes the OSHA reference: '29 CFR 1926 Subpart M — Fall Protection Plan for [Your Company Name]'.
Notify the GC safety director that the document has been uploaded. In Procore, you can use the @mention feature in comments, or send a separate email referencing the Procore upload.
Monitor the document status. The GC may approve it, request revisions, or reject it. If revisions are needed, upload the revised version as a new revision (not a new document) to maintain the audit trail.
Upload your Fall Protection Plan at least 48 hours before your planned mobilization date to allow time for GC review.
Name your file clearly: 'Fall Protection Plan - [Company Name] - [Project Name].pdf'. Don't use generic names like 'safety plan.pdf'.
If your GC uses Procore's Safety Inspections module, make sure your Competent Person named in the plan matches the person listed in Procore's project directory.
Keep a copy of the uploaded document in your own records. Procore permissions can change, and you may lose access after the project ends.
